Public Transport in Georgia : Metro, Bus & Taxi Guide for Students

Metro (Subway)

If you are coming to Georgia for studies, you must know the city. And the good news is that public transportation in Georgia is very affordable and student-friendly, and it’s also very easy to use for This guidance will help you understand how it works

The metro runs in Tbilisi and is one of the fastest ways to travel.

-The metro is available from morning to night 

– You need to get the travel card, it’s called a MetroCard 

– One ride costs around 1 USD

– Signs are available in English, so it’s easy for you to understand

Best for: Going to university, going to the city center, or long-distance travel inside the city.

Buses & Mini-Buses
Buses go almost everywhere in the city and outside the city, too.
-You can use the travel card for travel in the bus, the same as a MetroCard.
-Tickets are cheap and very affordable for travel
-Marshrutkas are smaller buses, but are very common in Georgia.
Best for: Places where the metro does not go.
Taxis & Ride Apps
Taxis are also easy to find and not very expensive.
-You can use apps like Bolt, Maxim, etc.
-Always check the price before starting the ride.
